Background

At an ICAO regional meeting in July 2026, Argentina's civil aviation administration, ANAC, presented a 2018 case at Buenos Aires' Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, where airlines had reported GNSS failures on aircraft parked on the apron. Checks with the telecommunications authority and the airlines found several sources of interference on the ground, including a ramp operator's radios, a vehicle tracking device and mobile telephony. ANAC's recommendations include using DME/DME navigation as a backup when GPS is lost en route (ANAC Argentina, July 2026).

A second ANAC presentation at the same meeting compared public ADS-B interference maps for January 2024 to July 2025 and concluded that there were few spoofing or jamming cases across the region (ANAC Argentina, July 2026). We found no Argentine authority statement attributing interference to a hostile source. For the reporting on interference in Argentina, and who it is attributed to, see: Americas.

Only hexagons whose centre lies inside Argentina's borders are counted, so hexagons in neighbouring countries and out at sea are left out. The map is framed on -55.1 to -21.8 and -73.6 to -53.6.

Argentina: with few aircraft, one report can give a hexagon a high share; see the limitations.

By altitude

Argentina: Mostly low altitude: points to local, low-power jammers. How this is read.

Argentina: an aircraft is counted in each layer it crosses, so the rows do not add up.
