Background

We found little published material on GPS interference affecting aviation in Chile. At an ICAO regional meeting in July 2026, Argentina's civil aviation administration presented a comparison of public ADS-B maps for January 2024 to July 2025 and concluded that there were few spoofing or jamming cases across South America (ANAC Argentina, July 2026). A January 2026 ICAO regional safety alert on jamming and spoofing named flight information regions in northern South America and the Caribbean, not Chile's (ICAO RASG-PA, January 2026). For the reporting on interference in Chile, and who it is attributed to, see: Americas.

Only hexagons whose centre lies inside Chile's borders are counted, so hexagons in neighbouring countries and out at sea are left out. The map is framed on -56 to -17.5 and -75.8 to -66.4.

By altitude

Chile: an aircraft is counted in each layer it crosses, so the rows do not add up.
