GPS jamming in Senegal today

Senegal today: 55.6% of monitored areas are affected.

Background

The natural disturbance of GPS is better documented here than any jamming. Dakar hosts one of five stations in the SAGAIE network, set up in West Africa in 2013 by France's space agency, CNES, and the regional air navigation agency, ASECNA. A paper on its data describes ionospheric scintillation at Dakar starting around 7 p.m. and ending after 1 a.m. (Inside GNSS, May 2022). A low-accuracy reading after dusk could therefore have a natural cause, and the map cannot tell the difference.

We found no report of jamming or spoofing over Senegal from its authorities or ASECNA. Dakar is absent from EASA's tables dated 14 October 2026 (EASA, October 2026). Senegal is among the states behind the 2022 African paper warning that interference could limit the benefits of satellite-based augmentation (ICAO A41-WP/304, 2022). For the reporting on interference in Senegal, and who it is attributed to, see: Africa.

Only hexagons whose centre lies inside Senegal's borders are counted, so hexagons in neighbouring countries and out at sea are left out. The map is framed on 12.3 to 16.7 and -17.6 to -11.3.
