GPS jamming in India today

India today: 23.0% of monitored areas are affected.

Background

India's civil aviation minister told Parliament in December 2025 that some flights had reported GPS spoofing near Delhi's Indira Gandhi airport while approaching runway 10, and that similar reports had come from Kolkata, Amritsar, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai (The Tribune, December 2025). The minister said flight operations were not affected and named no source; the Airports Authority asked the Wireless Monitoring Organisation to try to identify one (The Tribune, December 2025)(The Register, December 2025). Press reports a month earlier described pilots and controllers seeing false navigation data within about 60 nautical miles of Delhi (Scroll, November 2025).

The ministry had already told Parliament of 465 cases around Amritsar and Jammu, near the Pakistani border, between November 2023 and February 2025. The Tribune read those as coming from Pakistan, but does not report the ministry saying so (The Tribune, April 2025). A later ministry figure counts 1,951 cases nationally between November 2023 and November 2025, after a November 2023 circular required airlines to report them (GPS World, December 2025). For the reporting on interference in India, and who it is attributed to, see: South and Southeast Asia.

Only hexagons whose centre lies inside India's borders are counted, so hexagons in neighbouring countries and out at sea are left out. The map is framed on 6.7 to 35.5 and 68 to 97.4.

India: with few aircraft, one report can give a hexagon a high share; see the limitations.

By altitude

India: No clear altitude pattern. How this is read.
