GPS jamming in Pakistan today

Pakistan today: 77.8% of monitored areas are affected.

Background

Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority told a 2025 conference of Asia-Pacific aviation chiefs that the country had seen GPS jamming and spoofing in its own airspace, and that the Lahore flight information region was among the top ten in an OPS Group report (Pakistan CAA, ICAO paper, 2025). It said events began to rise in June 2024, peaked at 165 in February 2025 and fell to fewer than 40 in April 2025, after coordination with the air navigation provider, spectrum regulator, military and airlines and a federal inter-ministerial sub-committee (Pakistan CAA, ICAO paper, 2025).

The authority's paper does not say where the signals came from (Pakistan CAA, ICAO paper, 2025). In May 2025 Business Today, citing only unnamed sources, reported that India had deployed jamming systems along its western border to disrupt satellite navigation used by Pakistani military aircraft (Business Today, May 2025). That report quotes no named official. For the reporting on interference in Pakistan, and who it is attributed to, see: South and Southeast Asia.

Only hexagons whose centre lies inside Pakistan's borders are counted, so hexagons in neighbouring countries and out at sea are left out. The map is framed on 23.6 to 37.1 and 60.9 to 77.8.

Pakistan: with few aircraft, one report can give a hexagon a high share; see the limitations.

By altitude

Pakistan: No clear altitude pattern. How this is read.

Pakistan: an aircraft is counted in each layer it crosses, so the rows do not add up.
